There are people who enter our lives quietly.
They don’t ask to be noticed.
They simply go about their days carrying responsibilities that most people never see.
That is how I first met my friend, Keyra.
Whenever I stopped by her office to say hello, she always greeted me with kindness. Our conversations were brief, not because she was unfriendly, but because life kept calling her attention in a hundred different directions. She was always working, always serving, always moving.
At the time, I saw a busy woman.
What I didn’t yet see was the beautiful transformation God was quietly unfolding within her.
As the years passed, I watched something remarkable happen.
I wasn’t simply watching a woman work hard.
I was watching a woman bloom.
Keyra’s life has never been easy. Like so many women, she wears many hats every single day. She is a devoted daughter who lovingly cares for her mother. She is a dedicated mother who continues to guide and encourage her children. She manages a home, cares for her faithful companion, Coco, nurtures her relationship with her fiancé, and somehow finds the time to pursue a Master of Business Administration while maintaining an outstanding academic record.
Yet, above every responsibility she carries, there is one relationship she refuses to neglect.
Her relationship with God.
That is the foundation upon which everything else stands.
I have watched her walk through storms that many people never knew existed. I have seen moments of exhaustion, uncertainty, and sacrifice. Yet every challenge seemed to strengthen her faith instead of weakening it.
Recently, Keyra made one of the most courageous decisions of her life.
She walked away from a toxic work environment.
Like many people of faith, she questioned herself afterward. She wondered if she had disappointed God by leaving. She feared that perhaps the decision would somehow change who she was.
When she shared those thoughts with me, I wanted her to know something from the depths of my heart.
Sometimes faith is not found in remaining where we are being diminished.
Sometimes faith is trusting God enough to believe that He is leading us toward something healthier, something better, and something more aligned with the person He created us to be.
Choosing peace is not weakness.
Protecting your well-being is not selfish.
Listening to God’s gentle guidance requires courage.
One of the things I admire most about Keyra is that her wellness has become a priority. She understands that caring for herself is not separate from caring for others. When our hearts, minds, and spirits are healthy, we are better able to love, serve, and fulfill our purpose.
This July, Keyra will graduate with her MBA.
Many people will celebrate the diploma.
Others will celebrate the academic achievement.
I celebrate something much deeper.
I celebrate the woman she has become.
Her degree is a milestone, but it does not define her.
Her strength does.
Her faith does.
Her compassion does.
Her perseverance does.
The courage to begin again at fifty years old does.
The willingness to keep believing when life became difficult does.
That is the woman I have had the privilege of watching bloom.
Keyra, thank you for reminding all of us that life is not measured by how quickly we arrive but by the faithfulness with which we continue to grow.
You are living proof that God is never finished writing our story.
You are beautiful exactly as you are, not because your life has been easy, but because every challenge has shaped the extraordinary woman you continue to become.
Congratulations on your graduation.
May this be only the beginning of all that God has prepared for you.
“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
